The Yellow Sweater Effect

20 inches x 20 inches

acrylic and oil pastels on canvas

When I first started listening to the inner artist in me, I was encouraged by a creative mentor to move closer towards and into the things I naturally gravitated towards. One of the first things I purchased in this season was a highlighter yellow sweater. It was slightly obnoxious, but it was bold, unapologetic, and a little wild - but great quality. A staple, and I loved it. Looking back, purchasing that sweater was a tiny gesture of me choosing to honor myself and my taste - even if they’re only mine. It was a small step in the right direction. A step that said, “I have good taste because it’s mine, and I choose to lean more and more into my innate desires for bold colors, crazy patterns, and eccentric, yet classy design choices.
